IVCi Home was tasked with designing and implementing a home automation solution for a new house under construction in Westchester County, New York. The house is over 5,000 square feet with direct water views and a private swimming pool. Our client, the homeowner, is in the entertainment business and wanted his house to embody Hollywood-style elegance while reflecting his passion for music and film. The homeowner is also a frequent traveler, and requires a security system to monitor his home while he is away.
We worked with our client and his contractors to turn his vision into reality by providing a seamless integration of home automation technologies. His solution included a home theater, whole house audio and video, automated lighting, HVAC control, and security system integration. All of these systems were custom designed and installed to be easy and convenient to use.
The homeowner loves watching movies, so we recommended a distributed video system with a home theater for his media room. We specified, installed, and programmed a 60” Pioneer HD plasma display that was wall mounted. The room was equipped with powerful 5:1 full surround sound for a complete cinema experience.
It was important to the homeowner to have music distributed throughout many rooms of the house. We integrated an AudioRequest digital music system, Sirius satellite and AM/FM terrestrial radio, iPod integration, and stand alone CD functionality. In-ceiling speakers were installed on all floors of the home with outdoor-rated speakers on the deck.
The master bedroom was equipped with a wall-mounted 50” Pioneer HD plasma display. 42” plasma units were installed in the sitting room and office, and a 37” Sharp LCD was placed on the kitchen wall. Displays were hung on walls throughout the house creating a modern look.
Lighting control was driven through a Crestron system. This enables the homeowner to remotely monitor the lights and allows ease of use when at home. 'All off', 'all on', 'dimmable', or 'scenes' for special occasions—all at the touch of a button. While the client is traveling, the lighting system uses 'vacation mode', which replays the past two weeks of lighting activity as stored in memory. u
Radiant heat, forced hydro air, and the indoor temperature are easy to monitor and control in this home. Our programmers automated the HVAC system so that it would set at optimal levels for comfort and energy savings.
Security was a simple three step functionality request; away, home, and panic. When panic is hit, the 911 emergency request goes out immediately. The Crestron lighting automation causes the exterior lighting to flash on and off—saving precious seconds by alerting the first responders to the exact location of the emergency.
Six wall-mounted touchpads were placed throughout the home. In the media room, a 10.4” wireless touchpad was installed with full one-touch usability for all house systems and internet access. The main touchpad is a 10.4” wall-mounted unit with floor plans that allows complete monitoring and control of HVAC, lighting, security, audio and video. User-friendly icon-driven menus were developed and programmed by our in-house staff of Crestron-certified programmers.
IVCi Home delivered a complete home automation solution that provides our client with the ultimate in modern luxury and home entertainment. We integrated the varied systems so that they could be managed via easy-to-use control panels conveniently located throughout the house. The system provides the client with instant access to entertainment, lighting and climate control systems to create the mood and environment he desires. Our meticulous attention to design detail means our client can focus less on technology, and more on simply enjoying the experience.
