An integrated lighting control system is an essential element of a complete home automation experience. The days of five, six or seven switches on one wall are gone. You can now operate all of those lights using a single wall-mounted keypad.
Q: How can I use automated lighting as a way to protect my home while I'm away?
A: One of the best security features is a lighting design called vacation mode. The system recalls the past two weeks of lighting sequencing for the entire home, and can play the sequence back while the home owner is away. In this way, the appearance of activity is suggested even when you are not there.
Q: How I can get all the lights in my house to be at the perfect setting every time I walk in the room?
A: Use a lighting scene! With one touch of a button you can have a sequence of lights turn on at a pre-determined intensity, location and duration. For example, at dinner time you may prefer for the lights in the kitchen to be brighter than the lights in the dining room, and the lights in the living room to be somewhere in between. This can be pre-set at your home by our programmers with you there and is completely changeable at any time.
Q: I would like a new lighting system like the one you described. Can I replace the system I currently use without major construction to my house?
A: Yes! This is now possible with a Crestron product called infiNET which uses a wireless mesh network. This means that all the existing wiring can stay exactly the same. We use infiNET in homes that are not going to be fully renovated, and the owner wants to integrate some lighting control into their existing system. We also use this product in pre-war apartments that are landmarked, and in lofts that have plaster or concrete walls.
